At St. Charles Wellness Center, we are proud to introduce Dr. Rosita Atilus — a compassionate, dual board-certified provider dedicated to whole-person, patient-centered care. Dr. Atilus is an autonomous Family Nurse Practitioner, practicing independently across both family and psychiatric-mental health care, allowing her to treat the full picture of a patient’s health — physical and mental — without sending families to multiple offices for separate care.
Her dual board certification — through the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) — reflects a practice scope spanning health promotion, disease prevention, accurate diagnosis, and the comprehensive management of acute and chronic conditions for patients of every age.
Now offering mental health care: As a board-certified Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC), Dr. Atilus now provides mental health evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment alongside her primary care services — giving Homestead-area families a single trusted provider for both their physical and emotional wellbeing.
Dr. Atilus began her medical journey at Miami Dade College, where she earned her Associate Degree in Nursing. She went on to complete her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Florida Atlantic University, graduating Magna Cum Laude, followed by her Master of Science in Nursing from Florida International University and her Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) from Florida Atlantic University.
With over 25 years of healthcare experience, Dr. Atilus has worked across Adult Medicine, Pediatrics, Gerontology, Women’s Health, School Health Programs, and now Psychiatric-Mental Health care. This diverse background gives her the clinical depth and empathy to support patients and families through every stage of life and every aspect of their health.
Dr. Atilus believes in building long-term relationships with her patients, rooted in trust, transparency, and education. She encourages every patient to ask questions and take an active role in their care — physical and mental alike — to achieve the best possible outcomes.
